OUR
AGENCY
AID Upstate started as a volunteer
response to the emerging HIV/AIDS epidemic in the 1980s.
We are a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization. We provide
supportive services to men, women and children living with
HIV/AIDS in Upstate South Carolina. We also offer free HIV
testing, risk assessments and risk counseling and education
to the general public.
OUR CLIENTS
HIV/AIDS related illnesses make
stable employment impossible for many. Thirty-one percent
of our clients depend on government disability benefits
as their sole income. Our case managers work with clients
to help them develop the skills needed to work toward becoming
self-sufficient. Many clients rarely achieve complete and
sustained self-sufficiency. One unexpected crisis, no matter
how big or small, can bring their world crashing down. We
are here as a safety net; otherwise, homelessness would
be imminent.

STORE
Red Ribbon Resale is a thrift
store. All merchandise is donated. We cannot purchase items
for resale or accept items on consignment without jeopradizing
our non-profit status. Since we are a non-profit organization,
we are not required to charge South Carolina's 6% sales
tax, which is another way our customers can save.
